Boy do I hate TV advertisements that purport to be some kind of official pronouncement. They wind me up good and proper. They're obviously aimed at fooling the elderly - and other groups of society who are too trusting for their own good - into believing the worthless tat being sold is a great investment.
The London Mint Office is a fine example. It sounds all so very official. Their website even ends in a '.org'. It's actually little more than a marketing company, and the products are of little value.
Probably the worst aspect is how those who fall for the intitial "free" coin - or one costing "only" £32.90 - will automatically be signed up for more worthless coins, each and every month for a whopping £72.90!
Personally, I have a policy of not trusting people in adverts who don't blink or move their arms. And it's something that has stood me well.
Note, this is a 2-year-old old Posterous post of mine I've decided to dig out of the archives and re-upload to Typepad.
